                                                                                                  Tour's Itinerary

We begin this tour driving through the old paniolo (cowboy) Pahoa town and visiting where the lava stopped a quarter-of-a-mile from the town in December 2014.

Then rest at the beautiful Lava Tree Park awaits us with a canopy of lush trees, hanging vines and wild orchids. We then travel to the eastern-most part of the Big Island: where the rising sun first kisses the Hawaiian Islands. Incredibly pristine air makes for a peaceful pause for a picnic. The panoramic views of untouched, pure Pacific Blue takes us along the Old Red Road. A journey through the umbrellas of ironwood trees, laced with the ubiquitous noni trees rapidly unveils geology in motion! Coming now into the devastation zone the road points to Madame Pele's recent flow in September 2018 adding hundreds of new acres of land. The final big STOP was created with over 40-foot tall black lava wall at the end of Isaac Hale Beach Park where She also deposited new black sand at Pohoiki.

Our arrival at the old fishing village of Kalapana is humbling and inspirational… This land continues to be built and changed by the unpredictable flows of lava. We walk 1/2 mile to meet the newest Black Sand Beach in the world: Kaimu Beach. This is your time to observe the hundreds of Keiki (baby) coconut trees, being planted in the new crashed lava by the joined labor of many hands of this unique community.

-We take the opportunity to visit a Noni Farm and the sacred historic Painted Church, called “the Star of the Sea.”

To complete your trip we take you back to Hilo. From here we are stopping at a private Coffee and Chocolate Farm! Hands-on education will delight your senses.  Relaxed and rested we return to your drop off location.
