Let's start our tour at the Carlsmith Kealoha Beach Park (a.k.a. Four Mile)

We then continue along the magnificent Banyan Circle Drive and enter into the unique Liliuokalani “Japanese Gardens” and the sacred Moku Ola. We stop and pay homage to the man who unified all the islands King Kamehameha.

Now we are on our way to Hawaii’s Volcanoes National Park.
Most people allow far too little time for their visit. There is so much to see with more than 150 miles of trails…

Passing the gates of the National Park we entered the native Hawaiian forest and we are now at a cool 4000 foot elevation.

The famous eleven-mile tour around the Kilauea Crater takes us to some steam vents, followed by sulfur banks and finally face to face with Volcano’s Goddess: Madam Pele at the Halema’uma’u Crater edge. We will visit the working 24/7 Hawaiian Volcano Observatory and Dr. Jagger Museum to learn about the area’s history and view interesting exhibits.

Finally we enter into a Lava Tube for an enchanted hike in the Rain Forest, the sanctuary of native birds. Of course there will also be time for a buffet lunch at Volcano House, the oldest operating Hotel in all of Hawaii.

Leaving Volcanoes National Park, we head towards the Puna coastal area. Nearby will be a lava access road where in a distance of 1/2 mile we will take a hike to the active ‘a’a lava flow. There we will be standing face to face with red Madame Pele. This is the time to make your offerings to the Goddess of volcanoes.

Rested and relaxed we return to Hilo...
